Have you got what it takes to become hospitality’s #NextDisruptor?

Les Roches, the Top3 hospitality business school, is encouraging Norwegian high school students to join a global competition to think of a business idea that could bring positive disruption to travel and tourism. And the prize for the world’s best? A full scholarship to the school’s flagship Bachelor (BBA) in Global Hospitality Management.

Maybe it’s the fresh mountain air? Maybe it’s being located in Switzerland, ranked the world’s most innovative country by the UN’s World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for nine successive years?

Whatever the reason, Les Roches Crans-Montana has always had innovation and entrepreneurship in its core DNA. Perhaps that’s why around a third of alumni have gone on to run their own businesses, and why innovative brands flock to the campus to pick up fresh talent.

Now Les Roches is letting the next generation of innovators and disruptors find their voice. The school’s #NextDisruptor competition, which runs until 30 May, 2020, has laid down a challenge to high school students who will be earning their leaving certificates/diplomas in 2021.

The challenge: to come up with an innovative idea or business concept that could create positive disruption in travel, tourism and hospitality. The areas to focus on are:

  • Environment
  • Culture
  • Customer experience/employee satisfaction
  • Profitability

Once each budding entrepreneur has come up with their concept, they must create a short, simple video introducing it (no Hollywood productions required), plus a one page supporting document where they can explain a little more about the idea and how it might work. Then everything gets uploaded from this competition entry page:

The best ideas will be selected by a panel of industry experts, and these will go forward to a second phase of the competition, a ‘regional final’ where the shortlisted entrants for each region (this is a truly global competition for a truly global school!) will get a chance to present their idea in more detail.

From here, 20 regional winners will be invited to Les Roches Crans-Montana for a special finals event. There the overall winner will be crowned, receiving his or her full scholarship award. The other finalists will each receive a 50% scholarship, while there are also valuable partial scholarships for those who come second or third in the regional finals.

You can find lots more information on entry criteria, plus tips on how to put together an eye-catching video and supporting document, by visiting the main competition page.

And you can also visit the Les Roches website to find out more about the industry-leading Bachelor in Global Hospitality Management.

Good luck!
