The University of Exeter is a world class research University based in the South West of England, with campuses based in Exeter (Devon) and Penryn (Cornwall). Formed in 1955, the University has over 30,000 students from more than 150 different countries. Its success is built on a strong partnership with its students and a clear focus on high performance.
When students are searching for a university to progress their studies, whether undergraduate or postgraduate, certain themes arise from their research: league table rankings, student satisfaction, course type and content, social life/activities in the area, careers support and support services.
The University of Exeter is committed to excellence in all these areas; we combine flexible research-led teaching with high levels of student satisfaction and an award-winning careers service. We are ranked amongst the UK’s top universities in the Higher Education league tables – 13th in the Complete University Guide league table (2022) and 15th in the Guardian League table (2022).
We are also incredibly proud to be ranked amongst the world’s top 150 universities in the QS and Times Higher Education rankings, and recently ranked 8th in the world for our work on Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) in the Times Higher Education Impact rankings.

The best thing about living in Exeter…
“The beautiful nature and the vibes of a small city. It feels very cosy, I like that you can walk everywhere and it doesn’t feel unsafe to do so either. The fact that the beach is only a short train ride away is also a big bonus! But most importantly, the friends I´ve made here is the best thing about living in Exeter.”
Getting involved in social/sport activities..
“I´ve been going to socials arranged by the European Society, these have been great. I´ve also been casually going to the cool running’s society´s group runs, they really take you around Exeter and you get to see some great places. I am currently part of a research project in the Politics Department where we are mapping international students experience at Exeter. I really appreciate that there are these opportunities to engage with research and strengthen valuable professional skills.”
The ‘feel’ of the campus…
“Now in spring the vibes are especially great! It is very lively. A short walk from the Forum you can be sitting in a field or on the grass underneath an old tree, reading or chatting with your friends. The ducks in the pond outside the Forum is always fun to observe. You might get a glimpse of the famous campus cat as well!”
Would you recommend the University of Exeter?
“Yes! I am loving it here and I only wish I would have gone for my undergrad as well as my masters.”
